Use This Facility to Protect Yourself from Scammer

Scammers are becoming increasingly common, and more people are falling to these online scammers.

Last year, a total of 20,041 cases of online scammers were reported, involving a loss of RM684.5 million.

Day by day, various methods are used by scammers, and many more are designed by them to blind users. They are not ashamed to use branded goods' names to sell fake products, offer non-existent services, etc.

So, as consumers, we must be careful before deciding to buy goods or subscribe to any service offered online.

So, before making any transaction, check first using the Semak Mule portal managed by the Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah Komersil (JSJK) / Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID).

This facility can also be done by downloading the mobile application Check Mule CCID.

Ways to check the legitimacy of the merchant are:

1. Visit the portal at https://semakmule.rmp.gov.my/

2. Select a category whether you want to check a bank account or phone number

3. Enter the bank account number or phone number information

4. Enter the captcha code shown on the left

5. Click check information

If the checked bank account or phone number has been reported or blacklisted, you will see a result like the screenshot below:

We are using a phone number from an online seller, and here we can see that there are already 2 reports for this phone number. We also can see that 34 searches have been made for this number.

When looking at results like this one, it's best to refrain from doing any business with merchants using this phone number because the chances of being scammed are very high.
